MORTAL SIN To Record New Single
October 18, 2005Reactivated Australian thrashers MORTAL SIN will enter Megaphon Studios on October 29 with producer Phil McKellar to record a new song, entitled "Out of the Darkness". The track will be released as a CD single, also containing a recently shot video plus live tracks taken from the band's Australian tour with ANTHRAX.
In other news, MORTAL SIN's 20th anniversary editions of the classic "Mayhemic Destruction" (1986) and "Face of Despair" (1989) CDs have been delayed due to licensing problems yet to be resolved. The band are currently offering refunds to those who pre-ordered the albums. Those prepared to wait it out a little bit longer will be rewarded with a bonus CD.
MORTAL SIN parted ways with drummer Wayne Campbell and guitarist Joe Buttigieg earlier in the year and replaced them with Luke Cook (drums) and Nathan Shae (guitar). A three-song demo was completed in late 2004 at Party Pig Studios in Sydney. The recording, featuring the cuts "Out of the Darkness", "Lost Within" and "Rise or Fall", marked the first time the band had laid down any new material since 1996.
MORTAL SIN's new album, "Far from Extinction", is tentatively due in early 2006 via an as-yet-undetermined label.
